I’ve got my mix mojo back AKA homemade skincare obsession. I’ve been dying to make a scrub that will wake me up in the mornings especially now that its Ramadan.

I enjoy exploring with ingredients that can be sourced from the kitchen cabinets. Being in Nigeria means I don’t have easy access to alot of my favourite luxury brands/products but it has its benefits because now i’m curious to find natural/organic substitutes.

This scrub was made with ingredients I already had in the kitchen : Roast ground coffee , cocoa powder,  cinnamon powder , brown sugar and Olive oil. All these ingredients are products of Nigeria except the cocoa powder which is a product of Ghana.

* Ground Coffee is an excellent anti-inflammatory because its rich in antioxidants. The natural caffeine draws excess moisture from the skin , causing it to look , feel smoother and firm. It also helps to exfoliate dead skin cells . Oh! did I mention its excellent for reducing cellulite.

*Cocoa powder os also an antioxidant that helps repair skin cells and prevent free radicals. It helps hydrate the skin and reduce roughness.

*Cinnamon powder helps to clear any bacteria on the skin.

*Brown sugar acts as an exfoliant in this scrub.

*Olive oil is nourishing to the skin because its rich in minerals , vitamins and natural fatty acids.

1 Cup ground coffee
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 tsp cinnamon powder
3fl oz Olive oil

I mixed all the dry ingredients together is a mason jar then stirred it till it was properly combined ; I then add the Olive oil and mixed.

I applied the scrub on damp skin but you can use it on dry skin. I was so excited about how yummy it smelt and how smooth , moisturised and tight it felt my skin. Amazingly I did not need to apply lotion all day.

*If you live in Nigeria you can get all kinds of jars from Shoprite.

I have missed my space on the internet but I had to take a break because I needed to help with my cousin (more like big sister’s wedding) . I had no idea how stressful and tiring weddings were until now. Shout out to wedding planners & co.

The stress of the wedding really affected my hair ; like my hairline is so thin/fine now. Anyway , I was introduced to the wonders of avocado and  how it benefits our hair. Trust me to switch up the recipe to suit me.

*1 Avocado

* 2 TSP of Shea butter

* 4 TSP of Coconut oil

* 3 TSP of honey | Softens an

*1/4 cup of distilled water

I would have loved to add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to treat dandruff and help with itchy scalp but coconut oil and honey will do for now. The mask is very rich and great natural treatment for dry hair. Coconut oil and avocado help  thicken and soften the hair , shea butter adds moisture and shine. I applied the hair mask to clean damp hair ; wore a shower cap over night for a deep condition. Rinsed with warm water and let it air dry.

My hair felt amazing as usual and although it made my hair thicker ; its still manageable.

I’ve recently become crazy about my hair AKA FLUFFY .......... she’s so beautiful . Yes i’m talking about my hair like it’s not mine.

A kind friend of mine gave me this mask as a gift and its the best gift i’ve received in a while #honest.

L’occitane has to be one of my favourite beauty brands ; they have amazing skin & hair products that I think are worth trying if you want to treat yourself.

The mask is for dry and damaged hair ;

its claims  to

" contains an anti-breakage complex, made with five essential oils (ylang-ylang, sweet orange, lavender, geranium, angelica) and plant-derived amino acids, which help repair the hair fibre. It also captures the richness of shea butter and sweet almond oil in which help to soften and protect.”

And ladies ( & gentlemen) its the truth; the rich creamy mask transforms my forever dry hair to soft  and moisturised goodness. I apply the mask to freshly shampooed hair ; instantly the thick creamy texture glides onto my hair ; making it easy to detangle. I leave the mask in for about an hour even though L’occitane suggests leaving it in for 5-10mins. I then rinse my hair with warm water and follow with leave in conditioner and oil ( coconut oil , argan oil or sheabutter ) depending on my mood.

Did I mention how shiny and fluffy it leaves my hair. I highly recommend this mask especially if your hair needs help with moisture.

The only thing that might put some of you off is the £22 price tag for 250ml. Its expensive I know but a little goes a long way this rich silky cream mask.

I hope you’re all having a good weekend?

Hey ladies , I hope you all had a good long weekend? I spent mine working with an amazing bride this weekend ; Follow me on instagram @halimabepo to see my work. This tutorial is for my “not so into makeup “ readers. As much as we all love to look made up / picture perfect ; some ladies just want to a fresh effortless look they can wear daily.

I made this tutorial for my readers who just want to learn the basics without the fuss. I know not everyone will love this look because its not perfect but that’s the whole idea. I don’t want anyone to feel they have too apply a ton of makeup to look made up ( don’t forget i’m a makeup artist expressing herself ).

Anyhoo! look forward to hearing from you soon xxx

OMG!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe i’m blogging again. I really really missed my space on the www but I needed to live life away from the internet.

Anywayyyyyyyyyy i’ve been up to a lot and as time goes on I will tell you all about my experiences so far in Nigeria. You all know i’m a product junky but being in Nigeria, its harder to quench the junky thirst .............Ok enough about me FOR NOW :).

I’m obsessed with making sure my makeup brushes are VERY clean and soft. I usually use Dr bronner’s  peppermint Castile soap AKA Magic soap ( If you’ve never tried their soap you should definitely get on it especially the peppermint & citrus ) . I was looking for a reason to pop into the most AMAZING makeup store in Nigeria called GIFTY’S DAUGHTER BEAUTY .

Its important to always wash your brushes atleast once every fortnight depending on how much you use them. Plus you don’t want bacteria from the dirty brushes to break you out. The soap softens and conditions my brushes which will help them last longer. The soap cleans my white bristle brushes so well and works perfectly with natural & synthetic bristles. Pro brush soap comes in 14 scents, I got the mango scent which I LOVE.

The soap is packed with alot of moisturising oils like coconut oil, Argan oil, Avocado oil , Jojoba oil etc. I simply dampen the brush , rub it on the soap side then rub over the loofah side to help remove stubborn makeup.

The soap costs N1,500 at Gifty’s Daughter beauty.

After going back and forth ( more like over thinking ), i’ve finally decided to start offering private one on one lessons #YAY. For over a year i’ve gotten alot of requests for private makeup lessons and to be honest I was not ready back then.

This class is for the everyday woman who wants to learn how to apply makeup on herself or just improve her makeup skills. This is NOT a professional makeup course.

The classes will take place every Monday , Wednesday and Saturday ( If these days don’t work for you, please let me know in the email and I will work out a day that suits you depending on availability). If you're interested  in applying for the class please send an email to with the subject  "ONE ON ONE PRIVATE TRAINING” and I’ll send the course overview with an application form.

I know not everyone lives in Abuja but not to worry I have plans to visit other states soon.

Thank you so much for your patience and support .

Looking forward to hearing from you xxx

Even though I have combination oily skin, my skin tends to dry/ crack alot espcially now that its harmattan season  in Nigeria. Like most Northern states in Nigeria, harmattan in Abuja is HELL. The unforgiving dry heat damages my skin even though I wear SPF 50 daily ( Well when i’m going out).

Long story short, My quick fix to dry damaged skin is a YOGURT & HONEY MASK. It’s my go to magic healer for dry, cracked and dehydrated skin. I use it from head to toe is necessary. I love sourcing my yogurt and honey from local traders because its 100% natural ( No preservatives and junk).

Pour the yogurt and honey into a small bowl and stir. Then leave it in the fridge over night ( you can leave it for 30 mins, I just like to let things sit longer). Apply to freshly cleansed skin and leave for 10-15mins before you rinse it off with warm water. Towel dry your skin then apply your usual moisturiser.

1 TSP of HONEY

Like magic my skin feels and looks soooooo much better. Its really easy to do TRY IT.

To think I uploaded this tutorial weeks before I left London is crazy. I originally disliked the video because I thought it was not perfect ( well I still think it’s crap but I needed to post a video). I’m my own worse critic, I over think and over analyse EVERYTHING. If things don’t turn out exactly how I imagined it in my head, I dislike it. Over time I’ve come to realise that this habit ( more like mad lady habit) affects my progress alot. I’m learning to use what I have to achieve what I want regardless of whether I think its perfect or not.

My point is.......instead of waiting for the perfect time, space or day to come before you start a project, just use the resources you have presently to do as much as you can. Waiting for the perfect moment might NEVER happen.
